natural encounters

Natural Encounters is where division 1 and 2 get to go outside and explore every Thursdays. There are three groups which all have group names. Each group gets to do something different every Thursday that involves going outside. We are doing natural encounters for a bigger work space but also because we are doing inquiry about nature, so we get to experience the nature and make connections with it. I like doing Natural Encounters because its a bigger work space and that i can do a group work with the people that i know. I also like it because its something different than we usually do. Yesterday we did something with these rocks where you feel your rock with it behind your back, then you have to put it in a bag then it gets dumped on the ground. You have to find your rock once its on your ground and its just making a connection with your rock.

We're back!

We just got back from spring break and we are tired. At school we started to use graphs in math and we are doing work sheets where we have to find the spot on the graph and put a mark there. Once we have put all the marks, we connect the dots to make a picture.

We also started a new subject in inquiry about the environment. We watched a video about the great pacific garbage patch and how its growing. Now we are writing about it. We also started the garbage art which is where we bring some garbage from home and use it in school. We are putting together things we were about to throw away and turning it into art. We also are also doing something called natural encounters. We dont know what it is yet.

Three more days until Spring Break!

its Jayne and Jayda here!

jump rope for heart is coming on march 8th 2017,for the people who don't know what jump rope for heart is to help people with heart diseases and strokes. We jump rope and raise money for the heart and stroke foundation which they give  the money to the scientists  to find a cure.

we just had our conferences, usually i feel open to my parents and i feel open to my teacher but when you combined the two together i feel uncomfortable because instead of being one on one with my teacher or  my parents  instead its two on two with my teacher and with my parents! The good thing about conferences is that your teacher lets your parents know what you still half to work on and how your doing in school and it also lets you know that you can do something about your learning so you can succeed.

We are the grade 6/7 students in Division 1&2 at Highland Park Elementary. Our school is a great place to make lots of strong friendships, and to be introduced to new sports and activities. Our school mascot is a mighty eagle. I am proud to be a HPE eagle, and if you go to Highland park, you will be too. GO EAGLES! 😁👍

It's March 1st and we are all looking forwards to spring break! In math we are working on factors, and prime numbers. The inquiry projects are wrapping up and we just invited an international student to our classroom. It is also PJ day on Friday and I am exited for that! the conferences are in motion and I hope they are going well.
